What is Lacrosse Game?

The name " crosse " is of French origin. The game was mentioned under this name for the first time in the 1630s in the relationships of French missionaries living among the Huron-Wendat . Some believe that the game was named because the stick looks like the butt of a bishop, but other researchers note that at the time the French used the expression "playing lacrosse" to designate a game practiced with a curved stick and a ball. Whatever its origin, this name marks the beginning of the evolution of a game with a spiritual vocation towards a modern sport.

European observers are fascinated by certain features of the game that resemble war. Sometimes thousands of participants compete on a field stretching over several kilometers, and for several days. In the eyes of Europeans, the whole thing seems like a big chaotic melee.
